New Bedford- Maria (Gallant) Botelho age 97 died Wednesday October 13, 2010 at Royal Taber Street Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Maria was the wife of the late Jose C. Botelho. She was the mother of Sofia wife of Jose Mello of S. Dartmouth, Joseph Botelho of PA., Natalie wife of the late Brian Sheffield of New Bedford and the late Maria Butler. Mrs. Botelho was the sister of the late Sedonia Braga of New Bedford and the late Sofia Dias. She is survived 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Botelho was a daughter of the late Alexandrina (Costa) and Antonio Gallant. She was born in New Bedford went to the Azores as a child and returned here in 1950. Maria loved to sew and knit
Mrs. Botelho’s Funeral will be at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Saturday, October 16, at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass at St. John the Baptist Church at 8:45 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday from 6-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
