John R. Gilcreast, Sr., 86, of Derry, NH, died Wednesday October 13, 2010 in the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA. He was born in Londonderry, NH on October 9, 1924, a son of the late Frank and Elsie (Clough) Gilcreast and had been a resident of Derry for the past three years, formerly living in Sandown, NH and many years in Londonderry. Mr. Gilcreast was a US Army veteran serving during WWII, and was a member of the American Legion. He had been employed for many years as a foreman for Maine Manufacturing in Nashua, NH. Mr. Gilcreast was a member of the Londonderry Grange, and had been a member and elder of the Londonderry Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Watts) Gilcreast of Derry; three sons, John Gilcreast and wife Doris of Derry, Kevin Gilcreast and wife Linda of Derry, David Gilcreast and wife Stacey of Sandown, NH; two daughters, Judy Hatch and husband David of Derry, and Lynn Bedard and husband Gerard of Methuen, MA; ten grandchildren; as well as nine great grandchildren.
A calling hour was held on Saturday, October 16th from 10 - 11:00am at the Londonderry Presbyterian Church, 126 Pillsbury Rd., Londonderry. Funeral services followed at 11:00am in the Church. The burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Mammoth Rd., Londonderry.
