John Robert (Jack) Heintzman, 84, of 5227 Montclair, died at his home on October 12, 2010.
He was born August 21, 1926 in Peoria to John and Bernita Heintzman on August 21, 1926. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosemary Weyeneth Heintzman. He is also survived by his four children, John Heintzman of Peoria, Jeff Heintzman of Peoria, Mark (Karen) Heintzman of Athens, Georgia, and Lynn Heintzman of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Benjamin, Maggie, Callie and Luke Heintzman (also of Athens, Georgia).
He graduated from Peoria High School in 1944. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific. He graduated from Bradley University in 1950, where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a high jumper who won five National Championships and did two world tours with The National Amateur Athletic Union. He spent most of his sales career as a wholesale appliance salesman travelling throughout Illinois.
There will be a private memorial service for family only. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to Grace Presbyterian Missions or to the South Side Mission.
