Herbert Allen “Al” Merriman, 63, of Tifton died Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2010, in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Bobby Joe Wiard will officiate with burial to follow. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 14, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Merriman was born on November 14, 1946 in Chattanooga, Tennessee and was the son of Herbert Mark Merriman and Edna White Merriman, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one son, Tim Greene. He was a transport officer with the Irwin County Detention Center and of the Baptist faith. He had lived in Tifton for 30 years.
Mr. Merriman is survived by his wife, Jacolyn Thomas Merriman of Tifton; one son, Travis Merriman of Tampa, Florida; one brother, Mark Merriman of Tifton; two sisters, Cindy Pennington of Orlando, Florida and Phyllis Crawley of Tampa, Florida; and one granddaughter, Madison Merriman of Tampa, Florida.
