Ruth A. Schur of Webster Groves,MO., enterered the church triumphant on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the age of 92. She was born on September 24,1918 in Webster,MA. a daughter of Rudolf and Augusta Freytag, and married Bernard W. Schur on August 31,1940.
Ruth lived a full life of faith and service. She served the elderly as a nurse for many years in nursing homes in the Webster area. During WWII, she was a trained watchperson and spotter for enemy planes. She served God as a faithful, lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oxford, and was also on the Tri-Valley Board of Directors, receiving the Board Member of the Year award. Ruth was fond of music, particularly hymns and big-band selections, and enjoyed dancing immensely. Her love for her family came second only to her love for God.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard who died in 1964, she is survived by four children: Doris Watters and her husband James of Palm Harbor, FL.,Edna Opatka of South Grafton,MA., Allan Schur and his wife Sharon of Bellevue, NE., and Janyce and her husband Brent Duesenburg of Sunset Hills, MO. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Webster at the convenience of the family.
