Obituary






Laconia ----- Louis Alfred Laverdure, 90, of 17 Kinsman Drive, died at Lakes Region General Hospital on
Saturday, October 9, 2010. He had been a resident of the Lakes Region since 1979.
Mr. Laverdure was born on February 25, 1920 in Marlborough, Massachusetts, the son of Lewis A. and
Victoria M. (Dufault) Laverdure.
Survivors include his wife Audrey Campbell (Morse) Laverdure of Laconia, his son Rodman J. Laverdure and his wife Bernice of Albany, Oregon; three daughters, Carol A. Laverdure of Methuen, MA; Susan T.
Laverdure of Shawnee, KS; Nancy J. Laverdure-Plourde and husband Bernie of Readfield, Maine, a sister
Helen Laverdure of Tilton NH, two grandchildren Sherri Schott and husband Michael of Minot ND, and
Kristine Marie Corleone and husband Jerry of Brooklyn, NY; three great grandchildren, Alison Mayer,
Brett Schott, and Kasey Schott Murphy and several nieces and nephews. Louis was predeceased by parents,
a brother Lawrence and a sister Rita Chamberlain.
Louis’s extended family includes: Vinh Van Ha and Diep Mien Nguyen of Pullman, Washington
Co Uyen Catalina, Co Diem Currier, Lawrence and David Ha Chau Minh Nguyen and Cuong (Nguyen) Ha.
He attended the Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Marlborough (MA) High School in
1938. He attained a Collegiate GED through the USAF Institute and graduated from the US Army
Associate Quartermaster Officer Advanced Course. His career was spent in Quartermaster Divisions in
Massachusetts, European Middle East Theatre, Puerto Rico, Korean War, Pennsylvania and Virginia. He
retired as a Major in May 1960. During his military career he functioned in many administrative capacities
related to military logistics. He received many military awards and decorations including the Bronze Star.
After retiring from the army, he was employed by the USAF Logistics Command. He served in New York,
Massachusetts and Ohio before retiring in 1977.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church and Saint Joseph’s Church, Blessed Andre Bessette
Parish, Laconia NH. Louis was also very active in his church. He demonstrated his deep faith in
Eucharistic Ministry, Prison Ministry, as a Lector and was trained as a Pastoral Minister.
He formerly resided in Meredith, NH where he was a 12 year member of the Conservation Commission. He
enjoyed hunting, fishing and primitive camping.
Louis was the Neighborhood Commissioner for four Boy Scout Units and served on the Scout
Advancement Committee.
He was a licensed ham radio operator with an Amateur Extra license, and a member of The Military
Officers Association of America and Consumers Union.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 from 5-7 PM using the Carriage House
entrance of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Blessed Andre
Bessette Parish, Saint Joseph’s Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, NH.
Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Meredith Center, NH.

Lakes Region Habitat for Humanity, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, NH. 03246.
