Brockton – Colene (Alves) Griffin, 63, formerly of Raynham died Sunday, October 10 after a period of failing health. She was wife of William Paul Griffin.
Born in San Diego, CA she was the daughter of the late William and Jane (Green) Higdon.
Colene had been a resident of Raynham for more than 20 years before her move to Brockton 10 years ago, and along with her husband she was co-owner of the New Corp. Steel.
She loved to travel and especially enjoyed her time in Charleston, S. Carolina. She was a talented seamstress, but her greatest joy came from the time spent with her family and her beloved dogs.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children Kenneth Alves of Fall River, Paul A. Alves and his wife Raina of Mansfield, and Christopher Alves and his wife Stacey of Raynham, her brother Larry Higdon of CA, her sisters Gloria Presley of OK and O’Lyn Hoxter of NY, and her daughter-in-law Judy Alves of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Patrick Alves, and former wife of Paul A.J. Alves of Dighton.
Her services will be held Wednesday October 13 at 12 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Visiting hours will be held two hours prior to the service from 10 AM – 12 PM. Donations in her name may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22313.
