McLAUGHLIN, James A. “Jim”, of Winthrop, retired Capt. of the Winthrop Fire Dept. after 30 years of service, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loving friends on October 9, 2010. Beloved son of the late James A. and Priscilla (Morris) McLaughlin. Devoted lifelong friend of Cynthia O’Connell and her children Lisa Paulson, Kenneth O’Connell and Kathleen O’Connell, adored friend of Kristina Dopp and Charlene Murphy and many extended family members, and longtime best friend of George Bolster and family. Funeral from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, on Weds. at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be in Winthrop Cemetery. Late Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a life member of the Winthrop Yacht Club. Former mechanic at Bolster’s Gas Station for many years and an avid collector of firefighting memorabilia.
