Obituary

New Bedford – Marcel L. “Pepére” Boulay, 83, of New Bedford died October 7, 2010 at New Bedford Healthcare Center after a period of declining health.

Mr. Boulay was born in Québec, Canada, son of the late Joseph and Clara (Boutin) Boulay, and resided in New Bedford since 1946. He was employed as a loom fixer for more than 20 years by the former Berkshire Hathaway and went on to work for New Bedford Thread Co. Inc until his retirement.

In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest trip was fishing in Alaska, which had been a lifelong dream of his. He continued to enjoy fishing with his brother Lionel. He was a member of the A.C.A. Club and enjoyed many trips with his brothers and sisters. He often returned to Canada to visit family. He was an avid hockey fan, always cheering for the Canadiens.

He is survived by his daughters: Diane M. Sasseville and Denise A. Santos, both of New Bedford; a son: Marcel J. Boulay of Provincetown; 3 grandsons, of whom he was so proud: Michael Sasseville of New Bedford, Danny Sasseville and his wife Nancy of Somerset and Beau Santos of New Bedford; 6 siblings: Lucien Boulay, Lionel Boulay, Denis Boulay, Viola Racine, Gaetane Mahon, Liliane Duarte; and numerous nieces & nephews.

He was brother of the late Simone Jarvis and Rejean Boulay.

The family would like to personally thank his brother Lionel who was always visiting Marcel and helping the family with doctor’s appointments after Marcel suffered a stroke in 2002.

As our Papa would always say “10-4”, we know now he’s OK.

According to his wishes, he will be cremated and services will be private.
