DiBlasio of Brockton Dec. 5, 2003 Louis M. DiBlasio, Sr. 79 years. Beloved husband of Mary V. (LoStrappo) DiBlasio. Father of Michael, Richard, Nicholas, and Joseph DiBlasio, Debra Caggiano, Lucille DiBlasio, Theresa DeVoe, Regina (Roy) DiBlasio and the late Donna Marie and Louis DiBlasio, Jr.Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in St. Colman Church at 9 am. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Visiting hours Monday 5-8 pm. Obituary

Louis M. DiBlasio, Sr. 79 years died Friday December 5, 2003 at the Brockton Hospital after a period of failing health. He was born in Quincy son of the late Nicola and Anna (Petrello) DiBlasio. He was raised and educated in Quincy and has been a resident of Brockton for the past 47 years. He graduated from Quincy Point Trade School majoring in woodwork and sheet metal. He worked at the Fore River Ship Yard as the gang leader in the YB Department and for Tangalini Monuments as a stone setter. He also worked at Hess-Eastern in Brockton and for the City of Brockton as a laborer. He was also known as “Looker” to his family and friends.PFC DiBlasio enlisted in the US Army and served from March 31, 1943 to December 1. 1945 with the 677th Port Company, 382nd Port Battalion and was in Company L179, Second Battalion. He received the Silver Star for knocking out a machine gun and carrying ammunition and supplies through enemy lines, and the Bronze Star for meritorious and heroic achievement against an armed enemy. He also received the Purple Heart while at a Base Hospital in Italy while recovering from wounds, and also two oak leaf clusters (each cluster represents a Purple Heart). One Purple Heart was earned while carrying a wounded fellow soldier, while wounded himself, a half mile out of the line of fire. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Meritorious Unit Emblem, the WW II Victory Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Sharpshooter Badge, Honorable Service Lapel Button, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal where he served in Battles and Campaigns in Naples-Foggia, Rhineland, Romeo-Arno and Southern France.He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a former member of the Standish Sportsman Club Association in E. Bridgewater.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years ary Virginia (LoStrappo) DiBlasio, 8 children Michael of W. Bridgewater, Richard of Brockton, Debra Caggiano of E. Bridgewater, Lucille of Brockton, Theresa DeVoe of Hyannis, Regina (Roy) DiBlasio, Nicholas and Joseph all of Brockton., 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
