Obituary

Emily J. (Moniz) Steele, 75, of Dartmouth died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at home with her family by her side. She was the wife of Robert T. Steele.

Born in New Bedford, she was daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Medeiros) Moniz. She was a partner of Steele & Rowe Inc. Her legacy was her love and devotion to her family. Her grandchildren were the highlight of a wonderful life. She spent many happy hours aboard her catboat, the Emily J. with her true love, Bob, her husband of 55 years. You could always find her baking her famous toll house cookies and sending care packages of food and goodies to anyone she knew in need.

She loved to play golf, and was a member of the Little Harbor Womens Golf Association and Marion Golf Club. The many cards, prayers and well wishes these wonderful ladies and her many other friends sent over the months was so appreciated by her and will be long remembered by her family.

Including her husband, she is survived by a son: Robert T. Steele, Jr. and his wife Torey of Dartmouth; 2 daughters: Susan S. Carlson and her husband Bruce of Marion and Donna L. Coty and her husband Steven of Hancock, NH; 3 sisters: Anna Oceanas of Raynham, Rose Botelho of Dartmouth and Lorraine Szyndlar of Prospect, CT; 7 grandchildren: Jeffrey W. Steele, John S. Steele, Nicholas J. Steele, Jamison R. Coty, Jocelyn V. Coty, Tara W. Rickard and Lindsay C. Euell; 3 great grandchildren: Julia, Abby and Sarah; and several nieces and nephews.

She was sister of the late Frank Moniz, Manuel Moniz, Evelyn Payne, Virginia Botelho and Mary Taylor.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, October 11, 2010 at the Potter Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M.

Calling hours Sunday 5 – 7 P.M.

Interment in Apponagansett Cemetery, Dartmouth.
