Susan E. “Susi” Smith, after losing her battle with liver disease, passed away on October 6, 2010. She was 63 years old.
Born in Fulton, New York, Susi was a life long resident of Reading. She was employed at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for 39 years until her retirement in 2009. She was a VISTA Volunteer for nearly 2 years in the early 70’s after she graduated in 1969 from Elmira College in Elmira, NY. Susi graduated in 1965 from Fulton High School, Fulton, NY.
Susi was predeceased by her parents William G. and Flora (Alexander) Smith of Seminole FL and previously of Fulton, New York. Around the country she leaves 5 loving aunts, an uncle and cousins. As part of Susi’s extended family, she was predeceased by Robert J. and Mary E. Burns of Nashua, NH but leaves her long time friend Betty Burns of Reading. She leaves her Burns family, Bobby and Patty of NH, Jay B. and Jodi of NY and Billy, Kathy, Wendy. Heidi and Troy of NH. She also leaves many, many, many dear friends made throughout her 63 years of life.
Visiting hours will be held from the A.J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Friday, October 8th from 4-9 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 9th at The Old South United Methodist Church, 6 Salem Street, Reading,at 9:30 AM followed by interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 71 Derry Road, Hudson, NH.
