Gilford-----Anthony J. ReSavage, 75, died peacefully at home after a short struggle with cancer on Monday, October 4, 2010.
Mr. ReSavage was born April 9, 1935 in Wilkes Barre, PA., the son of Anthony J. and Eleanor (Shilanski) ReSavage. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War on the aircraft carrier USS Leyte. He graduated from Northeastern University in 1966 with a B.S. in Material Management and was employed by Polaroid for over 30 years, retiring in 1993 as Senior Planner, supervising and administering the material planning activities in support of film manufacturing at all of their overseas sites. After retirement in 1993, Tony moved to New Hampshire from Chelmsford, MA. One of his passions was golf which he played as often as possible at Laconia Country Club. He loved to travel around the world with his family and friends and one of his greatest pleasures was accompanying Carolyn’s grandchildren on their annual birthday outings. Tony loved puzzles of all sorts including the NYT Sunday crossword puzzle and unique wooden jigsaw puzzles which were always in process somewhere in his home. He embraced new technology and enjoyed researching and finding the best deals on everything. His many other interests included music and time with his grand-dogs, Kenai and Helo. He spent many hours volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul and with the Gilford Rotary Club. He was a Paul Harris Fellow, an award recognizing his “service above self” within the Rotary organization. He attended the Gilford Community Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Robyn J. Pallis, and her partner, Jeff Gerry, of Gilford; his beloved companion, Carolyn S. Scattergood, of Gilford and her children and grandchildren; a son, Anthony J. ReSavage, Jr. of Pittsfield; four sisters, Geraldine Drost, of NJ, Janet Hilger, of PA., Beverly Bedami, of NJ., and Dolores Wilkie, of CA.; many nephews and nieces. Mr. ReSavage was predeceased by his wife, Krystal (Fogg) ReSavage, in 1989 and by his parents and a sister, Shirley Bedell.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 2:00PM at the Gilford Community Church19 Potter Hill Rd. Gilford, NH.
Burial will be at a later date in the Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford, Mass.
