Obituary

Salem: Rachel P. (Cormier) Martel age 86 of Salem, died peacefully Tuesday morning, October 5, 2010 at her home. She was the wife of the late J. Armand Martel.

Born in Leominster and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Rose A. (LeBlanc) Cormier. Rachel moved to Lynn in 1944 when she began working for General Electric and worked in the aircraft division until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish of Salem.

Rachel is survived by 2 sisters, Doris Plourde of Tewksbury, Loretta Knott of Bradford, Ontario and a brother, Raymond Cormier of Moncton, New Brunswick. She is also survived by her devoted sister-in-law, Mimi Martel of Salem, as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by 3 brothers, Ivan, Everett and Roger Cormier.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem at 8 a.m. to be followed by her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 9 a.m. Visiting hours: Friday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
