Robert C. Murphy, a 39 year resident of Stoneham and formerly of Somerville, died on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a lengthy illness. He was 72 years old.
Bob was born in Somerville on October 12, 1937 to the late James D. and Julia G. (Meehan) Murphy. He grew up in Somerville where he attended Somerville Public Schools. Bob worked for more than 25 years at the J.F.K. Federal Building in Boston with their maintenance division. He enjoyed spending time at all family functions.
Bobby is the devoted brother of Rose M. Abbott and her husband William of Stoneham, Anne P. Marchant and her husband Edmond of Melrose the late Dorothy Murphy, Bernice Murphy, Thomas Murphy (B.F.D.), Paul Murphy (B.F.D.), John Murphy, James Murphy, Arthur Murphy and Edward Murphy. He is the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours for Bobby on Friday morning, October 8, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by his Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 11 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
