BILLERICA: David E. Brazee, age 78, a resident of Billerica for 49 years, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2010 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, with his family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Anna M. (Amari) Brazee, with whom he celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 26, 2010.
Born in Tewksbury on August 10, 1932, he was the son of the late Louis A. and Elizabeth E. (Phillips) Brazee.
David was raised in Tewksbury and attended Tewksbury schools.
In 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Brazee served during the Korean Conflict and was awarded several decorations for his military service including the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.
Prior to his retirement in 1977, he was employed for 25 years as a truck driver by the Burlington Beverage Company (Cott's Tonic) .
Mr. Brazee resided in Tewksbury until moving to Billerica in 1961.
David a.k.a Jesse, was a member of the Tewksbury D.A.V. Post # 110.
According to his family, Mr. Brazee was a "jack of all trades", could fix almost anything and was especially gifted at repairing and tinkering with clocks.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Robert P. Brazee of Berlin, NH; five daughters, Cheryl A. Humphrey and her husband Walter, Betty Ann McGrath and her husband Anthony all of Billerica, Josephine M. "Jo" Porter and her husband Michael of Lowell, Paula M. Burgess and her husband Joseph Burgess, III of Lynn and Deborah J. LaBonte of Billerica; one brother, Paul A Brazee of Tewksbury; one sister, Elizabeth E. "Betty" Ryder of Tewksbury; his dearest friend, William Menear of Lowell; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Brazee was the father of the late David E. Brazee, Jr. and brother of the late Barbara J. McBride, Louis A. Brazee, Jr., William A. , George R. and Wendell C. Brazee.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, Oct. 7, from 3-6 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by a Memorial Service to be held at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Mesothelioma Research Foundation, 1317 King St., Alexandria, VA 22314.
