James D. Buhl, 88, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Monday, October 4 at the Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Thursday, October 7, 2010 at College Road Baptist Church on Ocala, FL with Bro. John Downing officiating. Interment will follow in Barnes Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
Mr. Buhl was born September 8, 1922 in Ocala, Florida to the late George and Blanche Bertashaw Buhl. He graduated from Ocala High School in 1940 and moved to Fitzgerald in 2006. Mr. Buhl owned/operated Buhl Ranch, retiring as a cattle rancher in Ocala, FL. He was a former board member of Marion County Farm Bureau, a former board member of the Marion County Cattlemen’s Association and was on the Marion County Planning and Zoning committee. Mr. Buhl was a former member and deacon of Olivet Baptist Church and a member of College Road Baptist Church both in Ocala, FL.
Mr. Buhl is survived by his wife: Evelyn Hodgeman Buhl of Fitzgerald; daughters and son-in-law: Judith & Henry Cochran and Beverly Smith of Fitzgerald; son and daughter-in-law: James D. “Jimmy” & Robin Buhl of Ocala, FL; 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanie Dalton, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
