Germaine Bourgeois, 100, died Saturday morning at St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late William A. Garneau and the late Paul A. Bourgeois.
Born in St. Felix de Valois, P.Q. Canada, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Marie-Anne (Frechette) Dufresne. She was raised in Canada and came to Woonsocket as a young woman. In her youth in Canada she was responsible for caring for her siblings after the death of their mother.
Mrs. Bourgeois remained a lifelong resident of Woonsocket until moving to St. Antoine about 15 years ago. She was one of the first residents of the Villa at St. Antoine.
She was employed by the French Worsted mill for many years until her retirement.
Germaine will be remembered as a very devout and prayerful woman who focused on caring for others.
She is survived by a brother Germain Dufresne of North Smithfield and was predeceased by her many brothers and sisters.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:00 am in St. Antoine Chapel, 10 Rhodes Ave., North Smithfield. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Blackstone. Visiting hours are omitted. Arrangements are by the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket.
