Mrs. EmilyTheresa (McGoldrick) Danizio passed away peacefully at New Horizons Assisted Living Center in Woburn, on Friday, October 1, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Danizio, whom she married on March 4, 1945 and enjoyed more than 62 years of marriage. Mrs. Danizio was 92 years old.
Born in Winchester, Massachusetts on March 30, 1918 she was the beloved daughter of the late John and Teresa (McDonagh) McGoldrick. Emily was a graduate of St. Mary’s School in Winchester and was formerly an active member of St. Joseph’s Sodality in Medford and a member of the St. Joseph Mother’s Club. She had also been a long time member of the Winchester Country Club. Emily, along with her husband Joe, operated, for more than 25 years, the Union Office Supply Company in Boston. In her spare time Emily enjoyed traveling and gardening at her home in Medford. Above all she was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will be dearly missed by her loving children; Joseph F. and his wife Anne-Marie Danizio of Waltham, Lois E. and her husband Alan Wheelock of Plympton, Janice M. Switzer of Medford, Teresa A. Danizio-To of Chennai, India, Susan J. Timmins of Medford and Stephen G. Danizio of Lynn, grandchildren; Lauren MacLachlan of Boston, Katherine Scordamaglia of Brooklyn, NY, Caroline Switzer of Everett, Emily Switzer of Medford, Leslie To and Alexice To-Camier of Burkina Faso, West Africa, Olivia and Katherine Timmins of Medford and Nathalie and Frederic Danizio of Waltham, great-grandchildren; Nicolas Sclafani of Everett and Robin Bassy of Burkina Faso, West Africa. Emily was predeceased by her daughter, Lorraine and brothers; James P. and John J. McGoldrick.
Her funeral was from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Visiting hours were held on Monday, October 4, 2010, from 4 to 7 PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
