Captain James M. Murray, 58, of New Bedford died September 30, 2010 unexpectedly at home.
He was the loving husband of Sandra A. (Wedge) Murray with whom he shared 30 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Captain John and Bridget (Mullins) Murray, he lived in Mattapoisett, Fairhaven and New Bedford all of his life.
He was formerly employed as a captain on several fishing vessels in the New Bedford fleet.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren, watching the New England Patriots and spending time on the waterfront with his son.
Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Eric Murray of Wilkes-Barre, PA and Jeffery Murray and his companion Karolyn Dykas of Rochester; a brother, William Murray and his wife Susan of Mattapoisett; 3 sisters, Ellen Gifford and her husband Donald of Westport, Jeanette Mello and her husband James and Patricia Vieira and her husband Michael, all of Mattapoisett; a sister-in-law, Laura Murray of Attleboro; 2 grandchildren, Jack Murray and Owen Murray; several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late John Murray, Jr.
His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 5th at 10 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, October 4th from 4-8 PM.
