Marion E (Fongeallaz) Goldie from West Bridgewater entered into eternal life on Sept 30, 2010 at the Duxbury House in Duxbury after a long illness. Devoted mother of Patricia Sullivan of Norton, Carol Jean Goldie of Kingston, and Louise Landers of Hanover. Loving grandmother of 8 and great grandmother of 9. Dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister Dorothy (Fongeallaz)Darling of Crofton, MD and brother Ernest Fongeallaz of Middleboro, MA. She was the beloved sister of the late Eugene Fongeallaz of W Bridgewater and Stanley Fongeallaz of Bridgewater.
She was known to most all by her nickname, Maiter.
Marion was born in Braintree and raised in the Cochesett section of West Bridgewater, the 4th of 5 siblings. Her late parents were Ernest and Dorothy (Peabody) Fongeallaz. After WWII she married George Goldie, Jr and they raised 3 daughters. She was an excellent seamstress and pie baker. She enjoyed camping and traveling, having crossed the United States several times.
She was an avid animal lover and bird watcher. She also studied flowers, trees and mushrooms. She was employed by the West Bridgewater school system in the cafeterias and then the Comm of Mass at Bridgewater State College where she was a dorm monitor. She related well to the students.
Her services will be held on Monday October 4th at 1:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Melrose Cemetery, Brockton, MA. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to her service from 11:00-1:00.In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association: PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011
