Mrs. Orene Atkins Love, age 85, of Pilot Mountain, widow of the late Wiley M. Love, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at home. She was born in Moore County on February 16, 1925 to the late William Fletcher and Minnie Louise Hardy Atkins.Mrs. Love worked as a Beautician and a Homemaker, a Substitute Teacher, Seamstress, and a Den Mother, and was an active member of First Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain. She also was a member of the Pilot Mountain Chapter 23 OES for 52 years, VFW Ladies Auxiliary Club and helped organize the East Surry Marching Band.Mrs. Love is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Tammy Love of Dallas, NC, Terry and Connie Love of Hickory, NC; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gaye and Homer Gordon and Martha and Phil Smith, both of Pilot Mountain; seven grandchildren, Randy (Evelyn) Gordon, David (Dana) Gordon, Heather (Glen) Love Guy, Brady Dennis, David Wiley Love, Chase Smith and Carrie Love; five great-grandchildren, one brother and sister-in-law, William F. and Frances Atkins, Jr., and sisters-in-law, Ona Atkins, and Marie Atkins. Mrs. Love was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Atkins, and Roger Atkins.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service or at other times at the home. The Rev. Gene Sherill will officiate with internment of Orene and Wiley Love to follow at the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery.
