Elizabeth M. (McLeod) Principe, 59, of Norton passed away on Thursday September 30, 2010 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of Andrew M. Principe.
Born in Dorchester, MA on June 5, 1951 she was a loving daughter of the late Frank C. and Dorothea (Conway) McLeod.
Elizabeth grew up in the Dorchester section of Boston. She was educated in St. Margaret’s Parish School and was a 1969 graduate of Monsignor Ryan High School in Dorchester. She furthered her studies to become a graduate of the Forsyth Dental School in Boston and later in life had taken classes in computer skills at Dean Junior College in Franklin.
A Norton resident for the past 33 years, Mrs. Principe had been employed for the past 16 years as a Medical Assistant at Seekonk Family Medical Associates in Seekonk. She had previously been employed as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Teitleman in Norton and for Dr. Achreri in South Boston.
An active parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, Betty had been involved for over 20 years and served as a bookkeeper for the weekly church bingo games held at the parish center. She was also a former Eucharistic Minister and a former Religious Education Teacher at St. Mary’s Church.
Mrs. Principe loved spending time in the presence of her adoring family and was anticipating the birth of her twin grandsons. When her children were younger, she enjoyed volunteering at the J.C. Solmonese Elementary School and also at the Norton Middle School.
In addition to her beloved husband she is survived by her devoted children Sarah E. Principe and her fiancé Alex Seiler of Sycamore, IL and Thomas A. Principe and his wife Kathryn of Hudson. The dear sister of Donald McLeod of Hanover, William McLeod of Monroe, CT and the late Elaine Johnson, she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday October 4th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church
1 Power St. Norton. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday October 3rd from 4-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Dana- Farber Cancer Institute, care of Center for Sarcoma and Bone Oncology, 44 Binney St. Boston, MA 02115-6084.
