Laconia----F. Ellen Bates, 88, of 37 Kinsman Drive, Taylor Community, died at her home on Tuesday, September 28, 2010.
Mrs. Bates was born November 9, 1921 in Waterville Valley, N.H., the daughter of William and Florence (Reed) O’Hearn. She had been employed as the executive sales manager at Zelenda Machine & Tools in Forest Hills, N. Y. for over twenty-five years before retiring in 1994.
Mrs. Bates enjoyed time spent with family and walking her beloved dog, Jeff.
Survivors include her husband, Howard M. Bates, of Laconia; four sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Melissa Bates of Morris, Illinois, Paul and Alida Bates of Miami, Florida, Mark and Cindy Bates of Belmont and David and Amy Bates of Rumney; twelve grandchildren, John, Andrea, Jenny, Briana, Colleen, Courtney, Paul Michael, Yazmina, Cassie, Alicia, David and Breckin; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth “Bette” O’Brian, of Campton and many nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bates was predeceased by a brother, Willy O’Hearn, and by a sister, Marge Madison.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 11:00AM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Blair Cemetery, Campton, N.H.
