Maria Regina Daley, 50, of Derry, NH, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2010 in her home, surrounded by her family.
Maria Regina was born on October 12, 1959 on the island of Faial in the Azores, Portugal. She arrived in the United States with her family at the age of 9. She was educated in Cambridge, MA and worked in a number of fields throughout her life.
She found joy in many of life’s simple pleasures—gardening, ceramics, her dogs, and spending much of her time helping to raise her twenty nieces and nephews. Regina, as she was known to her family, will be missed. Her strength, kindness and giving nature will never be forgotten in the hearts of her loved ones.
She is survived by her husband, William Daley, of thirty-three years, her mother Maria Silveira of Methuen, MA, her two sisters Goreti Garcia of Methuen, MA and Noemia Roman of Raymond, NH, her five brothers Luis Amaral of Indianapolis, IN, Joe Amaral of Methuen, MA, Manuel Amaral of Charlotte, NC, Mario Amaral of Derry, NH, and Elidio Amaral of Pelham, NH, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her father, Jose Amaral, formerly of Faial, Azores in Portugal.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on, Thursday, September 30 from 5-8 pm at the Goundrey and Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street Salem, NH. A memorial service will follow at 8:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
