Armand Galea, 81, Olyphant, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010. His wife is the former Sarah "Sally" Costello. They celebrated 49 years of marriage on July 8.
Born in Olyphant, son of the late Frank and Anna Condida Galea, he was a member of Holy Cross Parish, a graduate of Olyphant High School and a Korean War veteran. Before retiring, he worked for Pennsylvania Home Products, a family-owned ornamental iron business. Armand was a gifted piano player and enjoyed playing for all to hear. He was an inventor of many tools and holds a patent on his latest invention. He was a loving husband, nurturing father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Armand passed away surrounded by his loving family.
Also surviving are four sons, Joseph Costello and wife, Sharon, Throop; Anthony and wife, Cheri, Scott Twp.; Frank and wife, Rosilyn, Dickson City; and Armand II and wife, Gina, Throop; two daughters, Denise Kester and husband, Randy, Archbald; and ReneƩ Corgan and husband, Cyril, Duryea; three brothers, Joseph, Peckville; Albert, Scranton; and Frank, Mayfield; three sisters, Ellen Benasutti, Clarks Summit; Yola Judkovics, Endicott, N.Y.; and Adele Galea, Olyphant; 11 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Galea and Celestine Poveromo.
The funeral will be Friday from the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick's Church, Olyphant. Interment, St. Patrick's Cemetery.
