Obituary

Fred Horst Burgdorf, 69, died on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 at his home in Woodland, CA.

Mr. Burgdorf was born on July 11, 1941 in Woodland, CA to Otto and Thea (Port) Burgdorf, where he attended school through graduation from Woodland High School in 1959. A longstanding Yolo businessman, his employment was his own business, Landing Products, in which he manufactured APC propellers for model airplanes.

He was well known throughout the world as one of the best Pillion pilots to race in competition. Known and loved by many people, his joy in life was flying model Q40 and Q400 airplanes in competition around the world. He also enjoyed water skiing and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Joan Klosowski of Woodland, CA, his daughter Carolyn Cook and her husband Matt of Browns Valley, CA, his brothers Otto Burgdorf and his wife Trudie of Woodland, CA and Hans Burgdorf of Davis, CA, two granddaughters and two great-grandsons. He also leaves two sisters-in-law, Jean Klosowski of Salem and Phyllis Ryan and her husband Jim of Lynn.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 11AM in Annunciation Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. As requested, there are no visiting hours. Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice in Fred’s memory.
