RAYNHAM/TAUNTON – Robert E. Lyons, formerly of Taunton, died at the Life Care Center of Raynham on Sept. 27, 2010.
He was 85.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late William A. and Catherine A. (Coyle) Lyons.
Raised and educated in Taunton, he was a 1945 graduate of the former Coyle High School.
Mr. Lyons managed the safe deposit department at the former Bristol County Trust Company, where he was employed for over 42 years.
He served as president of the Bristol County Group of the N.E. Safe Deposit Association from 1977 to 1979.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church, he was a member of the Titanic Historical Society and Old Colony Historical Society.
For over twenty-five years, Mr. Lyons served as a volunteer leader with the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts at the former Winslow Congregational Church.
He is survived by several cousins and friends, and is the brother of the late William Lyons.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway Taunton on Monday, Oct. 4th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church at 10 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery.
