Obituary

Edward R. Parrott, 88, recently of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Sunday, September 26, 2010, in the Knollwood Nursing Center. His wife of 37 years, Anna Marie Eriksen, passed away in 1984. He leaves a son and two daughters - Nancy P. Stultz of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; David B. Parrott and his wife Linda of North Plainfield, New Jersey; and Alice L. Eriksen of Boylston, Massachusetts. He also leaves three grandchildren - Lauren, Anna Marie, and Daniel. He was predeceased by his twin brother, James H. Parrott (d. 1989) and his sister Anna (Parrott) Cornell (d. 2000). His wife of 8 years, Evelyn (Kovacs) Lichy Parrott, passed away in 2010.

He was born in Plainfield, New Jersey, son of Minnie (Gunzelman) and Richard Parrott. He was a graduate of Plainfield High School. Edward was a parts inspector for Mack Trucks, Inc., retiring after 43 years of service. Edward was an active member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lancaster, PA. and was known for his interests in civil war history, the Golden Ages of transportation industries, opera music, and Andre Rieu performances. He possessed a deep kindness and an infectious smile.

A Memorial Service was held Friday, October 1, at 11:00 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester. A calling hour was held prior to the service. The Committal Service and burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, 1401 Woodland Avenue, Scotch Plains, New Jersey, Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 South Duke Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 or any hospice or Elder Services organization.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at Knollwood Nursing Center and Conestoga View Nursing Home in Lancaster, the Purple Hospice Team of Lancaster County, and especially, Mrs. Heidi Yorte of the Lancaster (PA) Office of Aging.
