Obituary

Phyllis June Ross of Salem, NH, died peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness at the Exeter on Hampton Care & Rehab in Exeter, NH.
Born Phyllis McClary on March 20, 1920, she spent most of her life in Salem before moving to Exeter to be closer to family. Phyllis graduated from Keene Teaching College in Keene, NH and was a respected and loved teacher at Woodbury School in Salem, NH for many years. Phyllis and Ed Ross had one daughter, Darla Ross McLeod, who passed away in 1992. She is also predeceased by her sisters Constance Stone and Roberta Ingram and by her brother, Herbert McClary.
Surviving members include her ever loving husband of 68 years, Ed Ross of Exeter, NH, son Kenneth Stone of Las Vegas, NV, son in law Walter Harvey McLeod of Summerton, SC, brother Carleton McClary of Cincinnati, OH, grandsons Harvey Ross McLeod of Summerton, SC and Brian Stone of Las Vegas Nevada, granddaughters: Heather Mahoney of Rye, NH and Lori Manzanares of Henderson, NV, 6 Great Grandchildren, as well as some very special nieces and nephews.
We remember Phyllis as an extremely caring and giving person always willing to put everyone before her own needs. We were all fortunate to be part of her life and truly are better people for it.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 30 from 10-11 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Salem Haven Nursing Home Activities Fund, 23 Geremonty Drive, Salem, NH 03079.
