George C. Silvestro a long-time Medford resident and business owner died at home Monday morning in the company of his loving family. He was 81.
Born in the West End and raised in South Boston, he was the son of the late Dominic and the late Antonietta (Camponello) Silvestro. George served combat with the Army during the Korean War and was awarded two Bronze Stars. A Medford resident for over 70 years, George founded Georges Bakery Products in 1966. He was a founding member of the Riverside Yacht Club and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. For many years he and his wife Mickey wintered in Cocoa Beach Florida. George was devoted to his family and enjoyed good times with his relatives and many friends.
The beloved husband of Michelina “Mickey” (Damiano), he was a devoted father to Dominic Silvestro and his wife Pam of Yarmouth, Dianne Mulhern and her husband Francis of Methuen, Peter Silvestro and his wife Louise Anne of Medford, George Silvestro, Jr. and his wife Mary of Medford, Joan Mongiello of Cocoa Beach, FL, Michael Silvestro and his wife Greta of Medford, the late John and Joseph Silvestro. He is lovingly survived by 22 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and his surviving brothers Joseph Silvestro of Somerville and Anthony Silvestro of Andover.
His Funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday September 30th at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 9AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Wednesday 4 – 9. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
