HAVERHILL: Louise M. (Shepard) Grina, 93, died Thursday, September 23, 2010 in the Wingate Nursing Center in Haverhill. She was the wife of the late John F. Grina.
Born in Haverhill on March 18, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Mary C. (Gunther) Shepard. A lifelong resident of Haverhill, she was a graduate of Haverhill High School class of 1935, where she was a member of the first football cheerleading squad.
Louise loved to dance and was a contestant in the old Boston Garden, dancing the jitterbug. She was also a member of the Elks Club, where she volunteered at many functions and dressed as The Witch on Halloween.
She is survived by her daughter, Louise and her husband, David Deal of California; two sons, John and his wife, Laurie Grina and James Grina and his fiancée, Emily Hall all of New Hampshire; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by four sisters, Katy Silva, Elizabeth Gardella, Mamie Andersen and Minnie Champion and four brothers, John, Anthony, Fred and Alex Shepard.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday in the Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Interment will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill.
