Mr. Donald P. Roberts, of Woburn formerly of Reading passed away September 26th, at the Wakefield Care and Rehabilitation Center following a lengthy illness. He was 81 years of age. Born in Reading he was the son of the late William F. and Mary J. (Quinn) Roberts. He was the beloved husband of the late Jean F. (Wellings) who passed away in June of 2003.
Mr. Roberts was raised and educated in Reading where he graduated from Reading High School with the class of 1946. Following graduation he enlisted in the Unites States Marine Corp and honorably served his country until 1948. Following his return home from the Marine Corp he soon married his beloved wife Jean and together they settled in Woburn where they lived for many years. Donald was a retired storekeeper for AT&T. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Woburn council #77 and was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, lodge 1151 of North Reading. In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing with his friends.
In addition to his late wife and parents, Donald is preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Nickerson, Marjorie Greenleaf, Claire Partridge, and brothers, William, Neil and Ronald Roberts. He is survived by two brothers, Kenneth H. Roberts and his wife Nita of Salem, NH, Richard Roberts and his wife Kathleen of No. Reading. He is also survived by his cherished sister-in-law, Linda Foley of Woburn and is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Thursday, Sept. 30th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin -Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday from 5 thru 8. Interment services will be private.
