Gladie Ferris Dishman, of 404 Tamworth Drive, died Monday, September 27, 2010, at her residence. She had been in declining health. Born November 30, 1919, in Draper, NC, she was the daughter of the late Lud Ferris and Nannie Blackwell Ferris. She was married to Jack Andrew Dishman of the residence.
Mrs. Dishman lived most of her life in Danville. She graduated in 1939 as valedictorian of her class at Schoolfield High School. She had been employed in sales at Spark Giles Furniture Company, Danville Hardware and Link Watson. She was a member of Woodberry Hills Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband she is survived by three grandchildren, Dennis A. Dishman, Jr., David A. Dishman and wife Angel all of Danville and Melinda Dishman of High Point, NC and three great-grandchildren, Amber, Gabriella and Joshua Dishman all of Danville. She was predeceased by a son, Dennis Andrew Dishman, Sr. and a brother, Lindsey Ferris.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Highland Burial Park with Rev. Rob Kauffelt officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home.
