Obituary

WORCESTER-Paul J. Gillespie, 67, of Worcester died Thursday, September 23rd at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer that he fought with his absolute all.
He leaves his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Nancy (DeFosse) Gillespie; a son, Brian J. Gillespie of Worcester; a daughter, Kelly A. Gillespie of Uxbridge; a brother, Charles Gillespie and his wife, Martha of Cape Cod and Florida; three sisters, Mary Wincer and her husband, Chuck of Millbury, Peggy Sciascia who was a great source of comfort and her husband, John of Auburn who walked every step of the way with him, Shirley Fenner of Worcester; five grandchildren, Jonathan and Jared Robert both of Uxbridge, Brayden, Camden and Daylen Gillespie of Worcester and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Robert Gillespie and a sister, Janice Miller.
Mr. Gillespie was born in Worcester the son of John and Anna (Lancisi) Gillespie. Paul worked in the maintenance department for Becker College for 18 years, retiring in 2005. He was a master at woodworking and enjoyed being in his workshop. Paul was a fan of the Boston Bruins and the New York Giants. He enjoyed razzing his son over the Red Sox. Paul will be sadly missed by his loving family.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 28th at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements.
