Roland L. Brochu, 76, of Derry, NH died Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. He was born on May 29, 1934 in Salem, MA, a son of the late Evariste “Pete” and Carmen (Lessard) Brochu. He was a resident of Derry since 1983, formerly living in California, Paris, France, Orlando, FL and Hampstead, NH. Mr. Brochu graduated from High school in Danvers, MA, Class of 1951. He then enlisted and served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Okinawa. He was employed as a quality control engineer for Raytheon, retiring after more than 30 years. Following his retirement, Mr. Brochu worked as a sales clerk at Sears at the Mall at Rockingham Park. He was a member of the Derry Salem Elks lodge. In his younger days, he had two prized Weimeraner dogs that he entered into many dog shows. He also enjoyed riding horses and scuba diving. When he moved to Derry, he enjoyed boating on Big Island Pond.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 41 years, Charlene (Poirier) Brochu of Derry, one daughter, Michelle Baker and her husband Todd, of Derry, one son, Erik Brochu and his wife Natalie of Derry, two granddaughters, Renee and Keira, five grandsons, Alexander, Andrew, Daniel, Trey and Collin, one great grandson, Travis, two nephews George Phaneuf of New Hampshire, David Phaneuf of California, one niece, Janice Niboldi of Italy, many great nieces and great nephews.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday September 28th at 10:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Avenue, Derry.
