Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Niten Southern, age 62, of Walnut Cove, wife of Roy Lee Southern, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Stokes-Reynolds Memorial Hospital. She was born in Forsyth County and lived the first few years of her life in Ararat, VA before moving to North Carolina. She was born on June 23, 1948 to the late Joseph Otto and Nannie Lucille Young Niten.Mrs. Southern retired from the Textile Industry. She never met a stranger and would help anyone.Mrs. Southern is survived by her loving husband, Roy Lee Southern of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann (James) Frady of Walnut Cove; one son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie Lee (Joy) Southern of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Ashley Tilley of King, Kayla Frady of Walnut Cove, Nicole Southern of Archdale, Kara Hester of Winston-Salem, Hannah Southern of Archdale, Jordan Frady of Walnut Cove; siblings, Virginia Lucille (Frank) Beasley of Rural Hall, Joe (Ann) Niten of Winston-Salem, Irene (Johnny) Calhoun of Westfield, Jay Niten of Pilot Mountain, Allene (Thaxton) Harrison of Westfield, James Benie (Joyce) Niten of Walnut Cove; three sister-in-laws, Mattie Sue Mabe of Westfield, Nancy Young of Westfield and Mary Alice (Boyd) Mabe of Lawsonville; several beloved and cherished nieces and nephews.Preceeded in death by one sister-in-law, JoAnn Niten, wife of Jay Niten of Pilot Mountain.Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010 at Cox-Needham Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Bro.
