Sullivan, of Brockton, January 26, 2002, John P. Sullivan 81 years. Husband of Lorraine (Ericson) (Gardner) Sullivan and the late Eileen (Hallisey) Sullivan. Father of Eileen, Jack, Bill, Dan, Kevin, Mary Anne Cedrone, Michael, Patty Lucini and Sheila Sullivan.

Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday at 8am. Funeral Mass in St. Margaret Church at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8pm and Thursday 5-8pm. Obituary Information

John P. Sullivan, 81, of Brockton, who was Patriarch of a large Brockton family, died Saturday afternoon at Brockton Hospital. He was the husband of Lorraine (Ericson) (Gardner) Sullivan and the late Eileen M. (Hallisey) Sullivan.

Mr. Sullivan was a lifelong resident of the city and a devout Catholic who made religion a priority in his life. He attended St. Margaret’s Church.

His parents, Daniel and Mary Ellen (Hamrock) Sullivan, immigrated from Ireland in 1917 and instilled in their son a passion for Irish history and family heritage. During his lifetime, Mr. Sullivan made over thirty trips to visit with his extended family and friends in Ireland.

Mr. Sullivan was 25 when his father died leaving him to support his widowed mother and eight younger siblings. He was a devoted son, caring for his mother until her death in 1993.

During his young adult life he worked as a laborer and attended school nights, eventually receiving a degree in Accounting from Bentley College. After training as an auditor and earning his CPA certificate, Mr. Sullivan began work in 1963 for the Ashworth Brothers Company in Fall River where he eventually rose to the position of Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Sullivan retired from Ashworth Brothers in 1991 having overseen the growth of the Company from a small local mill to a global concern with plants worldwide. He remained on the board of directors until his death.

He was an avid radio control airplane enthusiast having been a member of the South Shore Radio Control Club for over 40 years. Mr. Sullivan enjoyed building planes as much as flying them.

In addition to his wife he is survived by nine children; Eileen M. Sullivan of Brooklyn, NY; John P. Sullivan Jr. of Bridgewater; Daniel J. Sullivan and Mary Anne Cedrone of Charlotte, NC; Michael T. Sullivan of Middleboro; Patricia A. Lucini of Berkley; and William F. Sullivan, Kevin M. Sullivan and Sheila M. Sullivan of Brockton. He is also survived by three step children; John Gardner of Santa Fe, NM; Nancy Gardner of Lansing, MI and Peter Gardner of Belmont.

He is also survived by four brothers; Francis X. Sullivan and Kevin Sullivan of East Bridgewater and Stephen Sullivan and James E. Sullivan of Brockton. He also leaves two sisters Patricia Flynn and Theresa Savignano both of Brockton. Mr. Sullivan was the brother of the late Daniel J. Sullivan and Mary Johnson.

Mr. Sullivan (Papa) leaves 22 grandchildren, 3 great grand children, 7 step grand children and many nieces and nephews. He was also the grandfather of the late Gino A. Cedrone.
