Laurian Carroll, 58, of Norton passed away on Tuesday September 21, 2010 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on December 28, 1951 she was a loving daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary Laurian (Coleman) Carroll.
She grew up and was educated in Woonsocket and was a graduate of Woonsocket High School. She furthered her education and was a graduate of Emmanuel College in Boston where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, and later received her Masters Degree in Library and Information Science at Simmons College, also in Boston
Laurian was Director of the Information Center at Management Sciences for Health in Cambridge and was a former Corporate Librarian at Bain & Co. and at Clean Harbors.
A resident of Norton for the past 24 years, Laurian was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. She was proud of raising her son and enjoyed times spent with her family at Misquamicut Beach in Westerly, Rhode Island. Other enjoyable times in her life were vacationing and fishing in Maine and she was also a voracious reader. Prior to residing in Norton she had previously made her home in Easton and Boston.
She is survived by her devoted son Owen Voelker of Norton. The dear sister of Charles E. Carroll and his wife Eileen of Whitesboro, New York, Jane A. Carroll of Woonsocket ,and Michael R. Carroll and his wife Jean of Woonsocket, Laurian is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and her former husband Jeffrey Voelker.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday September 27th at 8:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 1 Power St. Norton. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday September 26th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Laurian’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the American Heart Association 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
