Robert Brace Dodd, Jr., 83, of 1119 Noble Avenue, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Duke University Hospital in Durham.
Born in Halifax County on March 7, 1927, he was the son of the late Robert B. Dodd, Sr. and Willie Barley Dodd. He was married
to Evelyn "Pat" Hammock Dodd, who predeceased him. He had lived most of his life in the Danville and Java areas and worked as
a splicer for Dan River, Inc.. He was a very faithful member of The Tabernacle. He had been in declining health for the past month.
Mr. Dodd is survived by two daughters, Robin Sue Dodd of Danville, and Deborah Dodd Rodier of Portsmouth; one brother,
Charlie Dodd of Danville and one sister, Mary D. Snow of Dry Fork. Other survivors include a brother-in-law, John Hammock and his
wife, Elaine, of Danville, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother,
Ernest Dodd and a sister, Lillian Oakes.
Funeral services for Mr. Dodd will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at The Tabernacle with the Rev. Lamarr
Mooneyham officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, September 24, 2010
from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at The Tabernacle and at other times, will be at the residence, 1119 Noble Avenue.
