TAUNTON – Joseph R. Costa, husband of Natalina (Amaral) Costa, died at Morton Hospital on September 22, 2010, following a ten month battle with cancer.
He was 56.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Agostinho and Maria dos Anjos (Rebello) Costa.
He was educated in the Azores and moved to this area in 1966.
Employed for many years by the former Walkover Shoe Co. of Bridgewater, Mr. Costa more recently worked as a buffer for the Wilshire Manufacturing Co. of Taunton.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.
An avid gardener, Mr. Costa took great pride in landscaping his yard.
He was an avid Benfica fan and enjoyed laughter with his family and friends, and going to church.
Besides his wife of Taunton, he leaves a son, Matthew Costa of Taunton; two daughters, Delia Costa-Bernardino and her husband Adam of Taunton, and Kelly Costa-MacLennan and her husband Marc of Taunton; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Maria Rosa Pimental and Maria Evelina Franco.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Saturday Sept. 25th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday Sept. 24th from 5 to 8 p.m.
