Peter S. Barber, 57, of Groton Long Point Road, Groton Long Pt., died Friday at his home.
He was born in Daytona Beach, Fla on June 3, 1946 the son of Ann S. Barber of Groton and the late Charles William Barber. A lifelong resident of Groton, he was a 1965 graduate of Fitch High School and later served in the US Army from 1965-1971, stationed in Germany.
He was employed as a printer at Electric Boat in Groton for several years before retiring. Known as a sports enthusiast, he especially enjoyed golfing, baseball, fishing and spending time with his sons and nephew.
Recently, he was very much looking forward to his sons's weddings to Stephanie A. Barber of Westerly and Gina B. Barber of Waterford.
In addition to his mother, Peter is survived by 2 sons, Andrew Michael Barber of Westerly and Daniel Joseph Barber of Waterford, 2 sisters, Marie Milam and Margaret Barber, both of Groton, 2 brothers, Cahrles W. Barber of Preston and David W. Barber of Groton, a nephew, Charles Milam of Groton.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Thursday from 9-11am followed by a Graveside Funeral Service at Elm Grove Cemetery with military honors. Teh Rev. Lisabeth M. Gustafson, Pastor of The Old Mystic Baptist Church, will officiate.
