Mrs. Frances Dean Patterson Harmel, age 78, of Pfafftown, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at The Oaks at Forsyth. She was born in Surry County on February 22, 1932 to the late Jasper and Emma Jones Patterson.Mrs. Harmel worked as a housewife and was a member of Bethania Moravian Church.Mrs. Harmel is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael (Sylvia) Flippin, and Christopher Flippin, both of Winston-Salem; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann (Steve) Rice of Winston-Salem; a step-son, Jay (Bonita) Harmel of Pfafftown; six grandchildren, Lauren Rice, Steve Flippin, Tonya Fink, Zachery Flippin, Austin Harmel and Clint Harmel; three great-grandchildren, Kirsten Fink, Jeremy Fink and Leah Flippin; one brother, Glenn (Mary) Patterson of High Point; a special friend, Hiram Spainhour; and many special nieces and nephews; and family and friends that loved her dearly. Her beautiful smile and caring nature will be missed by all.Proceeding her in death is her first husband, Clayton Flippin; second husband, Norman Harmel; brothers, Elmer Patterson and Graham Patterson; sisters, Evelyn Snow, Polly Johnson, Patricia Sidney and a twin sister, Betty Jean Masten; a step-son, Terry Harmel.Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Cox-Needham Chapel at 11:00 A.M. with interment to follow at Pine Hill Friends Church Cemetery.
