Obituary

Helen I. (Iafolla) Capone, 83, of East Walpole died September 19 in her home, she was the wife of the late Silvio F. Capone who died last November 1.
Born in Boston, March 20, 1927, the daughter of the late Antonio P. and Caterina (Gatta) Iafolla, Mrs. Capone was raised in Medfield and had lived in East Walpole for the past 58 years.
Mrs. Capone was a graduate of Medfield High School and attended Bentley College.
Mrs. Capone had been the office manager at Peggy Lawton’s in East Walpole before her retirement.
She had previously worked at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds.
Helen had been an active member of the Walpole Senior Citizens Club and the Council on Aging.
She helped to organize the Walpole Walk a Longs. She had been a poll worker at the East Walpole Polls for many years. She also had been a member of the Italian American Women’s Club and its former treasurer and played on its Bocce team for many years.Helen also was a member of the Walpole Women's Club

She loved to do creative writing and write poetry. She enjoyed swimming, playing bingo, to travel, to spend time in Falmouth with her family and to be with family, friends and people in general.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Natale and her husband Philip of Sharon, Janice Cunnane and her husband Kevin of Wrentham and Robert Capone and his wife Ruth of Westwood.
She is also survived by her brothers, Mario Iafolla of Norwood and Henry Iafolla of Holliston.
She was the sister of the late Ercole “Curley” Iafolla, E. Nina Iafolla, Anthony “Pat” Iafolla, Guido “Peter” Iafolla, Pauline Palson and Theresa Procaccini.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason, Eric, Jessica, Robert, Jennifer, Michael and Mariel.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, September 24 from the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St. in Walpole at 8:00 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 9:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Pastors Scholarship Fund c/o St. Mary’s Church, 176 Washington St., East Walpole, MA 02032.
