THOMPSON - Robert A. “Cowboy” Prior, 74, of 500 Riverside Drive in the North Grosvenordale section of Thompson, died Wednesday, September 15, in Oakwood Rehab & Nursing Center, Webster.
He leaves a son, John R. Prior and his wife Dorry A. Prior of Whiting, ME; a brother, Morris Prior and his wife Lois of Foster, RI; a sister, Audrey Marriot of Rhode Island; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer, Kerri, Zachary and Alex; 2 great grandchildren; and nephews and nieces.
He was born and raised on a farm in Foster, RI, a son of Lester and Irene (Keene) Prior. He moved here about 20 years ago. He graduated from Central High School in Providence, RI.
He was the owner of R. A. Prior and Son Excavating Company for 30 years, retiring in 1991 because of illness. He was one of the first to do professional excavating in northern Rhode Island.
He enjoyed farming and raising cattle in his younger days.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 25, at 10:00 AM in Spears Path Cemetery, Foster, RI. There are no calling hours. Condolences may be sent to his son, John R.
