Obituary

HATTON - Wayne K. Hatton, 71, of Yulee passed away Friday morning, September 17, 2010 at Baptist Medical Center in Fernandina Beach. He was born October 17, 1938 in Homerville, GA and moved to Nassau County when he was a child. He was a member of the 1957 graduating class of Fernandina Beach High School and set a new athletic state record in track while he was a student. He was a veteran of both the U. S. Marine Corps and the U. S. Army. Mr. Hatton was of the Baptist faith. He liked to discuss politics and history. He loved to read and was extremely knowledgeable in many subjects. As a collector of antiques, his favorite items to collect were music boxes. The most important area of his life, however, was his family. Mr. Hatton was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Eva Mae Hatton, and two sons, Richard Terrell Hatton and Gary Van Hatton. Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Lynnwood and Barbara Hatton of Yulee, FL; five brothers, Lewis Hatton, James Hatton, Thomas Hatton, Jerry Hatton, all of Yulee, and Victor Hatton of Tampa, FL; a sister, Treska Crisp of Yulee, FL; three grandchildren, Catherine, Meagan, and Lynnwood Hatton, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in the family burial estate in Green Pine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
