NEW BEDFORD — Helen B. (Simpson) Howarth, age 88 years, of New Bedford, died Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in Watertown, she was the daughter of the late George and Ethel (Barr) Simpson and lived in this community much of her life.
For over twenty years, Helen was employed as a health aide at the opportunity center for the handicap. She loved to read, enjoyed her family and especially hosting the annual Thanksgiving dinner with all of the extended family present.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth B. Dayton and her husband, Donald of Dartmouth and Janet Howarth of Pennsylvania; her ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and her niece, Elizabeth Reed.
She was the mother of the late John Edward Howarth and the late Doris Monteiro.
Her private arrangements were under the direction of the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford, Ma.
