Angelo "Angie" Costa, 94, of New Bedford died peacefully at home on September 15, 2010, after a brief period of declining health. He was the husband of 54 years of Janice H. (Arruda) Costa, and son of the late Marie and Julio Costa.

Mr. Costa served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Tech 4th grade and Battalion Dispatcher with the 754th Tank Battalion during the occupation of South Korea where he was eventually honorably discharged to accept a brief period of employment with the U.S. Military Government in Korea in 1946.

He was a 50-plus year member and Past Commander of Post One of the American Legion. He also served as President of the Greater New Bedford Soccer League.

Survivors include his wife; his sons, Kevin A. Costa and his fiancée Linda Drinkwater of Fairhaven, and Peter Costa of New Bedford; his daughter, Jill Marie DaCosta and her husband Edmund of New Bedford.

Mr. Costa was the brother of Natalie Cypriano of Danbury, CT, Joseph Costa of Acushnet, and Julio Costa of Valejo, CA.

He is survived by twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, five godchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and his daughter-in-law, Helen E. Costa.

He was the brother of the late August Costa and Aurora Medeiros, great-grandfather of the late Andrew and Amber Costa, and godfather of the late Natalie Rodrigues.

A self-taught guitar player, avid crossword puzzle doer, jack-of-all trades kind of man, he enjoyed life and his family and was a source of knowledge and inspiration to them. He will be greatly missed.
