Lillian (Maccini) Bono, 86, of New Bedford died September 14, 2010. She was the wife of the late Louis P. Bono.
Born in Cambridge, the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (Bergonzi) Maccini, she was a resident of New Bedford for sixty years. Lillian was a graduate of St. John's Catholic High School and worked for the Signal Corps of the U.S. Government in Boston.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she was a choir member, Eucharistic Minister, member of the parish council, recipient of the Marian Medal, and a long standing member of the Ladies League. Lillian was a long time volunteer for St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary and donated her time at Market Ministries.
Lillian was exceptionally kind and generous and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include three sons, Paul Bono and his wife Suann of Westport, Richard Bono and his wife Mary Anne Brogan of Mattapoisett, and Mark Bono and his wife Elizabeth Gilbert-Bono of Wellesley; nine grandchildren, Michael Bono and his wife Heather, Lauren Bono, Kyle Bono, Courtney Bono, Colin Bono, Casey Bono, Alexandra Gilbert-Bono, Bryson Gilbert-Bono, and Blake Gilbert-Bono; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Peitavino and her husband Harry, and Alice Franceschi; two brothers, Joseph Maccini, Jr. and his wife Marilyn, and Robert Maccini; a sister-in-law, Claire Maccini; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Saturday, September 18th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, September 17th from 4-8 PM.
