Edward V. Cogliano Sr. of Canton, son of the late Vincent and Julia Cogliano, passed away on September 14th. Ed was born on December 7, 1925 and was raised in Canton. He graduated from Canton High School in 1943 and from Suffolk University in 1949. He was a proud Veteran and served in the Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Alaska. He lived and worked in Canton and had his own accounting and insurance business until 2003 when he retired. He served as Director of the Canton Housing Authority for nineteen years; he was the first Treasurer of the Blue Hills Regional High School for eight years; and became a Corporator for the Bank of Canton in 1966 and he was a member of the Board of Investments at the bank for over forty-five years. He was a member of the Sons of Italy, American Legion Canton Post, VFW, and was a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Canton Chapter. He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed life and spending his time with his family. Beloved husband of the late Madeline M. (Paone). Devoted father of Edward V. Cogliano, Jr. and his wife Susan of Canton, Gerard Cogliano and his companion Sharon Costa of Falmouth and Elizabeth C. Young and her husband Jason of Marlborough. Grandfather of Paula Cogliano and her husband Evan Kingsley, Richard Cogliano and his wife Julie, Andrew Cogliano, Catherine Cogliano, Gerard Cogliano Jr., Alexander Young, Madeline Young, and Giada Young. Brother of Margaret Mirante of Connecticut. Also survived by his Aunt Laura O’Neil of Falmouth and his sister in law Maryanne Jamieson of Hingham and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St., Canton Monday 2-4 & 6-8. Funeral mass at St. John Evangelist Church Tuesday morning at 11 am.
